A winch, also known as a hoist, is a light and small lifting equipment that uses a drum to wrap steel wire rope or chain to lift or pull heavy objects (see lifting machinery). The largest hydraulic towing winch for ships in China is currently a 350T winch designed by Taixing Yikepan Ship Equipment Co., Ltd.
Characteristics and USES
Winches have the following characteristics: high versatility, compact structure, small size, light weight, heavy lifting capacity, and easy use and transfer. They are widely used for material lifting or flat towing in construction, water conservancy engineering, forestry, mining, docks, etc. They can also be used as supporting equipment for modern electronic control automatic operation lines. There are 0.5 tons to 350 tons, divided into two types: fast and slow. Among them, those weighing more than 20 tons are large tonnage winches, which can be used alone or as components in machinery such as lifting, road construction, and mine hoisting. They are widely used due to their simple operation, large winding capacity, and convenient relocation. The main technical indicators of the winch include rated load, supported load, rope speed, rope capacity, etc.
